The Art of Living Your Dreams

What makes it possible for a company ranked 253 on Fortune 500 Global bid for a takeover of another giant ranked 118. I call it the Art of Living Your Dreams. It's a form of art as it is an expression of desires and reflection of an individuals personal goals. Mittal Steel to take over Arcelor, not a bad piece of case study for any B-School in the world!
Imagine, if executed, this will lead to creation of an entity (I know this makes it look small)that will have a combined revenue of $ 60 Billion and jump to Fortune 50! They will virtually contrul the entire steel production in the world. Now there are pros and cons to this but then that's something that I leave to politicians and bureaucrats. For me it's a dream that I must've lived for throughout my life and I can now live it.
Ok, that's enough of facts, I don't wanna sound like a grungee wannabe M&A commentator! I think that in the modern (post 2K1) economy, every person can dream big and live it too. Gone are the days when you used to hear - 'where's the money honey??'. If you know how to make it a reality, money will chase you. If you can make it a reality, the world will chase you.
When the whole world shifted focus to technology, Mittal was right there in his cosy villa planning on where to dig and how much. While the Googlers were successful in making a statement and raking the moolah, Mittal was making steel (how boring?), buying mines, and then making money out of all this (did I read something similar - Atlas Shrugged???). But at the end (or should I say at the beginning) of all this Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and LN Mittal made it a reality for themselves. Larry and Sergey are seen as a threat to Microsoft. Mittal is seen as a threat to not just steel companies but, if I may, Steel Countries!
Nah, I am not going to ask 'what was their motivation?', 'how did they feel?', 'did it sink in?'... nope, not at all. As I said, it's an art which one acquires, masters, perfects, and then cherishes.
